Indo-European Youth Orchestra Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Historic Grand Budapest Concert in 2025
Budapest, Hungary – August 2025 – The Indo-European Youth Orchestra (IEYO), under the visionary leadership of Maestro Michael Rupam Makhal, proudly announces the 5th Grand Budapest Concert, a landmark event marking its 5th anniversary as a trailblazing ensemble. This prestigious concert, set to take place at the iconic Royal Palace of Gödöllő, Hungary, in August 2025, celebrates a historic milestone as the first India-based Western classical and intercultural music orchestra to perform consistently in Europe since 2019. Since its groundbreaking debut at the Danube Palace in Budapest on August 18, 2019, IEYO has carved a unique legacy in the global music scene. This historic performance marked the first time an India-based Western classical music orchestra performed in Europe, captivating audiences with a repertoire that seamlessly blends Indian raga-based compositions with Western classical traditions. The orchestra’s journey continued with successful performances at the Festetics Palace in 2022 and the Royal Palace of Gödöllő in 2023 and 2024, alongside annual concerts at the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre (ASCC), Embassy of India in Budapest, since 2022. Notably, IEYO’s 2022 performance at ASCC was part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, commemorating 75 years of India’s independence, underscoring its role in fostering cultural unity through music. The Indo-European Youth Orchestra is honoured to share that, once again this year, the ensemble has been extended the privilege of performing at the esteemed Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre on 6th August 2025. We express our sincere gratitude to Shri Mukesh Kumar Srivastava, Director of the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre (ASCC), Embassy of India in Budapest, Hungary, for graciously providing this exceptional platform.

IEYO stands as a beacon of innovation and harmony, recognized as one of the world’s pioneering intercultural music orchestras. Founded in 2018 by Maestro Michael Rupam Makhal and co-founder Sudeshna Makhal, the orchestra redefines Western classical music by seamlessly integrating Indian raga and folk rhythms. This distinctive approach, combined with performances of works by composers such as Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, Elgar, and Makhal’s original compositions, has earned IEYO widespread acclaim. The 2025 Grand Budapest Concert, marking the orchestra’s 5th anniversary, will feature an extraordinary repertoire celebrating five iconic maestros: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto – Adagio, Vivaldi’s Summer Violin Concerto, 3rd Movement (Presto), and an orchestral arrangement of Rabindranath Tagore’s Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu. This program, enriched by Maestro Makhal’s Symphony No. 1 – Spirit of India, will be performed by a vibrant ensemble of 14 Indian and 10 Hungarian musicians, promising to captivate audiences with its unique brilliance.
The 5th Grand Budapest Concert is more than a performance; it is a celebration of friendship, unity, and the transformative power of music. IEYO invites music lovers, and cultural enthusiasts to join this historic event and witness a unique fusion of Indian and European musical traditions.
