4th Grand Budapest Concert 2024

In 2024, IEYO presented its 4th edition of the Grand Budapest Concert at the Royal Palace of Godollo on 14 August 2024 with resounding success. IEYO was also given the opportunity to perform at the Amrita Gil Cultural Centre (ASCC) at the Embassy of India in Budapest, Hungary, on 13 August 2024 under the Bharat Week event, which was indeed a memorable event for all the members of the orchestra.

On 14th Aug 2024, we had the 4th Grand Budapest Concert at the Royal Palace of Gödöllő, Budapest Hungary before a wonderful audience who not only applauded us generously but also participated with hum and claps. This is for the first time any India-based Chamber/Youth Orchestra performed at one of the largest European Palaces covered with real gold and for local music lovers and tourists. The concert at the Royal Palace of Gödöllő last year was as thrilling for the audience as for all the musicians, everyone enjoyed it from their heart and the audience showered us with a long standing ovation and curtain calls, something we will remember for ages to come.

At the 4th Grand Budapest Concert 2024, IEYO performed a unique repertoire of Indian and Western Classical Music. IEYO is known worldwide as one of the first Intercultural Music Orchestras. The concert began with the National Song of India – Vande Mataram followed by evergreen works of Mozart. Young Indian Violin soloist Suraj Subramaniam concluded the first half with the famous Haydn Violin Concerto. Sangeetha Ramanuj, a student of Dr. Ambi Subramniam, currently studying at Oberlin College, commenced the second half with the fascinating composition of none other than Dr. L Subramanim, called Nadapriya. She also played the solo for the composition Sangram by Michael Rupasm Makhal. The concert introduced young Clarinetist from Inndi, Aishani Ray Dastidar, who gave a remarkable performance with the Baermann Wagner Adagio solo for Clarinet and Ennio Morrison’s ‘The Mission’ movie soundtrack – Gabriel’s Oboe. Young Saxophonist Vihaan Singla took the stage at the end and concluded with a resounding performance of the Gladiator Theme, River Flows In You Song by Yiruma and a special Indian classical piece on Saxophone composed by Maestro Makhal called the ‘1947 Summer of India’ mesmerizing the European audience.

We are thrilled to announce the 5th Grand Budapest Concert, set to take place at the Royal Palace of Gödöllő, Hungary, in August 2025. The Indo-European Youth Orchestra is poised to captivate the Budapest audience once again with an extraordinary lineup of pieces. This year’s repertoire tentatively includes works by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Tagore, Dr. L Subramaniam, Manoj George, Michael Rupam Makhal, and more. Additionally, we may have a bonus concert at the ASCC – Embassy of India in Budapest, as we have in previous years, provided we are given the opportunity by the Indian Embassy in Hungary. The concert at the Embassy solely depends on the prerogative and interest of the Indian Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.

Indo-European Youth Orchestra (IEYO) is the first India-based Chamber/Youth orchestra to perform in Europe. The first concert took place on 18th August 2019 at the Danube Palace hall in Budapest, Hungary. After the Pandemic, IEYO once again resumed its collaboration with Europe and performed at the Festetics Palace and ASCC – Embassy of India in August 2022. It was the second edition of the Concert project to Hungary. The grand saga is being continued ever since!

IEYO always invites young and senior musicians from various nationalities in its concerts, other than from India, IEYO had young talents from South Korea, Australia, UK, the US, and Hungary in the ensemble at its respective concerts. It goes without saying, Indo-European Chamber/Youth Orchestra has successfully made a mark for itself on the map of global chamber/youth orchestras. Our young musicians indeed came back home with a treasure of knowledge, experience, and motivation unparalleled to anything of its kind. We are extremely glad for the life changing contribution we could make to the lives of these young performers. We are at present working towards expanding our collaborations in Europe and other parts of the world, and to perform our Indian and Western classical unique repertoire before the learned and enthusiastic audience who equally appreciate Indian Raga based music and Western classical concertos and chamber works.
